Not too long ago, Spotify introduced me to an incredible band called The Gray Havens. The members, Dave and Licia Radford, are a Christian couple who make indie music.
I have mentioned before on my blogs that I dislike empty, repetitious Christian music. Well, their songs are nothing like that! ☺ Many of the songs are metaphors that take some concentration to understand. Besides that, their arrangements are diverse and creative, and they are talented musicians as well!
Please give The Gray Havens a try and let me know what you think. I’ve included some of their songs below. If you’d like to check them out on Spotify, there’s a playlist called This Is The Gray Havens.
Also, if you have any music recommendations for me, please let me know in the comments! I look forward to hearing from you.
Great songs! Nice music and great lyrics!

Hey, not bad. I like “Train Station” and “Ghost of a King” so far… Still listening. I find it interesting that you have the same issues with typical “Christian” music as I do… Though admittedly, I’m not sure I can really call myself a Christian, and I opt for music of a darker turn most of the time anyway. There is this one artist, though — Sarah Sparks? I can’t say if it’s quite your thing, but she’s one I really like. Markedly Christian, but, to me, in a more honest way. She also has an entire album of songs inspired by the Narnia books, which I find funny here. The name The Grey Havens is a Tolkien reference, isn’t it? And Tolkien and C. S. Lewis were friends with a shared faith. But I digress…
Heh. And back on track, I’m liking “Gray Flowers” too.

Honestly, I didn’t realize The Gray Havens was a Tolkien reference until you said it. 😂

They are my new favorites, too. “Train Station” gives me chills every time. Such an incredibly talented couple – so wonderful that they are using their gifts for God.

“The Stone” is one of my favorites by them. It’s more difficult to play, but I’m trying to learn it!
